MLTA Annual Conference - Massachusetts Library Trustee Association

The theme for this year’s program is FINDING JOY IN TUMULTUOUS TIMES. We are thrilled to have as our speaker, Dr. Chris Chanyasulkit.

Chris Chanyasulkit, PhD, MPH is a public health practitioner, advocate, keynote speaker, and master connector who speaks nationally about public health; literacy; civic engagement; and racial, gender, and health equity.  She is the President of the American Public Health Association (APHA), a mom of three, a dog mom of two pups and an avid reader. Dr. Chanyasulkit is also a Library Trustee at the Public Library of Brookline.

Stay Strong and Carry On—for your libraries, for your communities and for you.

Description

Long before the COVD-19 pandemic, libraries struggled to deliver community-responsive programming and services amidst tight budgets, but continued to rise to the challenges.  But today, libraries, their staff, and their trustees face not only tight budgets, but also persistent challenges to ban certain books and programming, harassment, and so much more.  How do we, as Library Trustees, “stay strong and carry on” to ensure that our libraries, our communities, and ourselves have the freedom to read? Based on evidence-based research and her lived experience, Dr. Chanyasulkit offers you a 3-step plan (and a whole host of resources!) to advocate for your libraries successfully and joyfully!

Following the MLTA Annual Conference, stay for a Trustee Orientation with Maura Deedy and Rob Favini from MBLC from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
