Census Data for Libraries - Data 101
The MBLC invites all interested library staff and advocates to a series on discovering your community through Census Data. Presenter from the U.S. Census Bureau, Nicole Esburnett McKenzie will, through live demonstrations, teach participants to how to use data.census.gov to gain meaningful data and insights into your library's community that libraries can then use to inform advocacy, programming, services and more! Questions are highly encouraged as personalized information can be acquired and viewed in real time. The first session will be:
Census Bureau Data 101: Resources and Services
In this workshop you will learn about U.S. Census Bureau's surveys and data resources available to help you understand, access, and use Census Bureau data, which can be helpful to libraries for community research and outreach, program planning, and resource allocation. We will take a tour of the Census Bureau’s website and highlight areas that may be most useful to library staff and patrons and provide a demonstration on how to quickly pull up your community's data profile.
The second session will be on April 15 @ 2PM: Census Bureau Data: A Deeper Dive into Your Community by the Numbers. Follow this link for info and registration for the second session in this series.
Unable to make one or both of these first 2 sessions? We will be re-running the 101 and Deep-Dive sessions again this summer!
There will also be a quick-access "Data on a Deadline" program in May which will provide a nuts-and-bolts overview and live demos.
