Annual MLTA Trustee Conference
The Massachusetts Library Trustee Association (MLTA) will hold their annual conference this year on Saturday, November 1 at the Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545. Please register in advance as space is limited and lunch will be provided.
The MLTA conference is a great opportunity for trustees across the state to interact with each other, learn new approaches to advocate for their library, have conversations about challenges you're facing, and trade stories about successes. This year's program includes:
- Brief MLTA Board Meeting
- Keynote Address - Building Bridges: Cultivating strong relationships with your legislators with Nora Blake, Library Director at the Ipswich Public Library and Co-Chair of the MLA Legislative Committee
- Learn how to talk to your local legislators and keep in touch with them so that your library is centered in local negotiations and considered in statewide talks. Gain insight into what statements make the most impact and just how important legislative aides are in understanding your situation.
- MBLC Update - Statement on the legislative agenda and outlook for libraries in MA
- Trustee of the Year Award - winner announced and award presented
