Core Connections: Welcoming Patrons Who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Late Deafened to Your Library
Join the MBLC for an educational and engaging webinar to explore how to create a welcoming environment for patrons who are deaf, hard of hearing, or late deafened in real-world library settings. Attendees will learn about communication strategies, assistive technologies, and practical changes that make an immediate impact. Gain actionable ideas to strengthen accessibility and build lasting relationships with Deaf and hard-of-hearing patrons.
Special guest, Peabody Institute Library Director Noelle Boc, also will share her experience executing a MBLC Access for All grant to improve library services and access for deaf and hard-of-hearing patrons.
Our presenter, Jonathan O’ Dell, is the Supervisor for Communication Access, Technology and Training Services for the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. MCDHH provides accessible communication, education, and advocacy to consumers and private and public entities so that programs, services, and opportunities throughout Massachusetts are fully accessible to persons who are deaf and hard of hearing. For more information about resources and programming offered by MCDHH, visit their website.
