Core Connections: Trauma-Informed Engagement in Librarianship
Take a collective breath with Somerville Public Library’s very own social worker, Jake Savage, and familiarize yourself with trauma and the concept of trauma-informed engagement to develop strategies for working with library patrons.
Participants will learn about the 6 principles of trauma-informed engagement, recognize how common trauma is, and leave the session with practical strategies and tools to benefit in future interactions with patrons and coworkers alike and improve workplace culture.
Please note this session is 90-minutes and will include interactive components to practice skills through group exercises
This session is part of MBLC's 12-month series, Core Connections: Building Community Supports and Allyship at Your Library.
