SUMMARY:Core Connections: Protecting Libraries Through Policies
DESCRIPTION:Effective library policies create a foundation for inclusive
service\, staff confidence\, and clear intentions for library users. This
webinar explores best practices for developing\, reviewing\, and
implementing policies that support special populations while also
addressing the safety\, well-being\, and professional needs of library
staff. Participants will learn strategies for creating clear\, consistent\,
and inclusive policies that balance access\, compliance\, and operational
realities.\n\nPresented by Al Hayden\, Library Advisory Specialist for the
Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Al advises Library
Administration\, Friends\, Foundations\, and Trustees in public libraries
throughout the Commonwealth on best practices and solid policies\, helping
them understand that policies work best when they prioritize staff mental
health and patron dignity in an equitable way.\n\nMiki Wolfe is the
Director of the Morse Institute Library in Natick and will discuss steps
take to develop policy to offer privacy protection for two years for any
staff member who is trolled\, harassed\, bullied\, or doxxed as a result of
their library job – a policy that was approved by her Trustees and funded
by her Corporate Board. \n\nThis session is part of MBLC's 12-month
series\, Core Connections: Building Community Supports and Allyship at Your
 Library.
